Pilgrim Shelter
Camino de Santiago, 2011
The briefing asked for a temporary day-shelter for pilgrims. Our main goal was to transform this shelter into a ritual that would unite the people walking the spiritual road of Camino de Santiago. As a result we planted a heavy column in the centre of the site wrapped around by a large screen. Once the pilgrims arrive they will each grab a tip of the screen and go around, as in a ritualistic dance. The shelter would then naturally “happen”.
This project was developed for Pladur students competition and awarded the 1st prize in University of Coimbra. Colaboration with Maria Eduarda Duarte, Tiago Santana and Tony Coelho.
